Our Mission
Our mission at the Downriver-Detroit Student Film Consortium (DDSFC) is to provide opportunities for all students in Detroit and the Downriver area to explore their creativity and passion for filmmaking. We strive to empower and support young people as they develop the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the film industry. Our program is inclusive and welcomes students from all backgrounds. Our goal is to create a positive and supportive community that encourages students to reach their full potential and achieve their dreams.
Our Story
The origins of the Downriver-Detroit Student Film Consortium (DDSFC) can be traced back to 2016, when a student, Noah Turner, approached the program’s founder, Scott Galeski, with a question: “How do I get involved in your films?” This sparked the establishment of the DDSFC, which began as a small group, utilizing borrowed equipment. Over the years, the program has grown in size and success, with numerous awards and accolades earned. Today, the DDSFC is supported by a dedicated team of professional volunteers who provide mentorship, training, and program management.
